Iroko
Milicia excelsa
Durable, versatile and naturally resistant — built for demanding interior and exterior use.
About the species: Iroko
Iroko is one of Angola’s best-known hardwoods, valued for its durability and stability. Its golden-brown heartwood performs well outdoors and is a practical alternative to teak in many applications.
We sort for colour variation and mineral streaks, which are natural characteristics of the species, and confirm grade before packing. Logs and sawn material can be supplied subject to volume and current availability.
Typical applications
- Decking and outdoor furniture
- Doors and frames
- Marine and dock work
- Flooring
- Worktops
Working and finishing
Iroko contains silica and can dull tooling; carbide tooling is recommended. It is durable in service, but movement should be allowed for in exterior assemblies.
